FHBX Gives Thanks!

nelson and Denise serve Thanksgiving dinner with a smile. The only words that best describe my experience at Fountain House Bronx on Thanksgiving Day (2013) are:  It was the "home away from home" for me because I totally enjoyed it all.  The guests included our members, volunteers, and others. As a member and volunteer, I, along with another member, welcomed all of the guests to our Fountain House Bronx. The meal was delicious and nutritious, and I ate only what I truly enjoy (turkey, stuffing, carrots, and mashed potato). The remaining guests ate other delicious servings of Thanksgiving delights.  Most of all, the day was grand with good cheer.

Fountain House Bronx celebrated Thanksgiving. The celebration took place on Thanksgiving Day. They provided a sumptuous meal to all who attended. There was plenty of food for everyone. A Fountain House Bronx member went through the clubhouse, taking pictures of the participants. Staff and members invited their relatives, such as their parents, grandchildren, and cousins. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. There was a visiting colleague from Australia. There were also community volunteers who helped cook and serve the food and clean up. We also took a group picture in front of the building where everyone was included.

The Fountain House Bronx community strikes a pose after dinner.Thanksgiving was a special moment as well as a milestone in the history of Fountain house Bronx. For me personally, it was great to see all the members and their family and friends, as well as the volunteers coming out and adding to the festive and joyous moments. The flowers and food were exceptional, and the mood was great.  The meal  consisted of string beans, yams with marshmallow, turkeys cooked and sliced to perfection, carrots with a glaze, rolls, muffins, apple cider, and coffee. The best part was apple pie with whipped cream and the conversation, mingling, and happy atmosphere. You could look around and know that no matter what you were going through, this was a great time to reflect and be thankful. I just want to thank all those who showed up and all those who helped prepare the meal.
