On October 7, 2013, Fountain House Bronx underwent renovations of its facility located in 564 Walton Avenue. Members of this clubhouse, as well as volunteers from other Fountain House locations, came together to paint and upgrade.
The music was jamming and full of energy. Staff as well as members engaged in the difficult task of plastering, taping and painting every wall, both on the first and second floor. It was a rewarding experience, indeed. Members were content and happy to do the work to renovate our beloved home. Supplies such as rollers, paint, drop cloth, spatulas, frog tape, and brushes were acquired from the Home Depot inside the mall near Yankee Stadium.
This makeover lasted all throughout the week and surprisingly was finished earlier than expected. First, we moved all the furniture out of the way. Then, we taped the edges of the walls and doors with frog tape, and finally we brushed on the layers of paint using the rollers. We covered everything using the drop cloth.
Thanks to all of those who participated in this difficult task. You have definitely given us a new home.
