Howie the Harp (HTH) is a Peer Specialist training program that trains former psychiatric individuals to become Peer Specialists who help other people with mental illness transition back into the community as they recover. Howie the Harp is a well-known program in the Tri-State area because many of its graduates go on to find employment.
Graduation Day was pleasant and honorable. Many staff members received rewards for all their great work in the form of small trophies. The HTH students received their graduation certificates. The food was very tasty and delightfully arranged on the tables with flowers in the middle. My fellow classmate Joe played the piano, and the other classmate played the tuba. The music was as if we were all at a symphony.
All the students took pictures with the CEO of HTH and the director under him. The NYU Kimmel Center, where the graduation ceremony was held, was beautifully set up, and I liked the huge windows. We all had a great time. I am presently looking for a job in the Human Resources field as a Peer Specialist. I received a certificate in Peer Specialist and a WRAP certificate: WRAP means wellness recovery and action plan.
